When you switch from one software vendor to another the chances are high that you need to export data cleansing and migration to the newly elected accounting program. SAP B1 is hosted in Microsoft SQL Server and import data is usually in the Data Transfer Workbench by filling CSV templates for each of the board.
In our opinion, the real challenge lies in the export of legacy accounting transactions, especially when they are hosted in the platform database Btrieve exclusive or even the organization of complex data. One of the most enigmatic legacy system in line with the ODBC connection and export accounting data is Great Plains for DOS, Windows or Macintosh, that was popular at the end of 1990. And still in production in versions 9.5, 9.2 and earlier. In this small publication we would like to discuss the data connection and export measures:
1. DDF files for the ODBC connection via MS Exchange or SQL command directly through invasive Center. We believe that the general control center is better than the ACP is sharing the same Btrieve file to accommodate more tables of parents requires data cleansing in SQL SELECT. As you may know that Pervasive Software is the successor to Btrieve. Btrieve DB and ODBC connection requires platform called "data definition files" or for short DDF: FILE.DDF, FIELD.DDF INDEX.DDF and when the latter is optional, but recommended as it improves the performance of the consultations. There are instructions in the manuals for ODBC available for review in the MPC installation CD. Instructions require that you have the original disks that were sent back to you later in the 1990th but customers often do not have more
2. Export of historical data. In general, try to discourage customers from the conversion of historical documents, as it could lead to millions more in sales or purchase invoices and lines to the export, import and clearance of Business One Instead, it is suggested consider the option of keeping the Great Plains accounting runs on Windows XP workstation or server can be a second priority for the survey data only for good customers if the appeal of old days and the status of applications or perhaps a state or federal audit. If you think that the history of the migration of files is absolutely necessary, then be ready to clean the data in the SQL Select with complex clauses in the bill that header, line, tax information and directions - all these photos in the same file: ORDHST.DAT located in the server operating environment
3. Appealing to guide counseling. One of the earliest ideas might be a request for an expert to take the historical data in Excel. This is a great idea, to the point where you have to take hundreds of thousands or millions of documents and the lines that Excel simply was not directly to do with this number of rows. In the case of a massive migration, we recommend that you export to a text file and then import it into a custom table in MS SQL Server using SSIS Import Wizard data
Alternatives fourth if you consider that the migration of data is too difficult. Try to think about staying in GP platform and migrate from Great Plains Accounting with Microsoft Dynamics GP Version 2010, which is the current version of writing these lines in November 2011. Migration tool exists, and you should be able to obtain licenses Dynamics GP with a reasonable discount software (in our experience about 40%, but the situation is in hand of Microsoft Business Solutions, we recommend that you speak with your local doctor). Another alternative is to keep the AMP to review the data and project plans minimum conversion of data into SAP BO
5. Reference versions. SAP Business One is available in the United States in the following versions: 2005A, 2007A, 8.8 and 8.81 now. Note that the version 8.8X versions A and B were merged into one and is not necessary to provide two MS SQL Server for A and B. AMP as mentioned above could be popular in versions 9.5, 9.2, 9.1 or above. There are also client versions in the "Great Plains Dynamics" 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0 on Pervasive SQL 2000 Server, Btrieve or Ctree. In the exotic cases, you can also find the version 4.0 of the dynamics of Ctree / Mac platform server Fairom
6. Notes on international versions of the Great Plains. Prior to its acquisition by Microsoft Great Plains Software was dynamic and international expansion with reasonable success has been achieved in these countries and regions such as Russia, Poland, Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Spanish in Latin America, Arab World and all English speaking countries. With the acquisition of Navision Software Plains Microsoft Business Solutions Great restricted in the United States, Canada, Australia and other English-speaking world, where Navision and Axapta are internationalized later. Have made this historic journey expected high volume of the Great Plains accounting flavors must be removed and converted to SAP B1, Dynamics AX, QuickBooks, Peachtree, MYOB, NetSuite and other accounting systems
7. Last Flint or Dynamics GP, formerly known as Great Plains Dynamics internationalization. Microsoft Business Solutions, was the thought of state in 2004 until 2006. Our company has been asked to find Great Plains 7.5 Brazilian version of the ERP market for reasonable support. Around 2005, the MBS were to change your mind, rather than to recommend Navision in Brazil and internationally, including Russia. And as soon as it is again changed his mind, in order to recommend Axapta those days are rebranded as Microsoft Dynamics AX. Note that the SAP Business One is localized in Arabic, English-speaking countries
